My life is all about bALANCe.
In college I discovered this sweet space of equilibrium when I switched to an art major from biology while continuing on the premedical track. Despite being in class from 8 AM to 8 PM most days, I found ease and flow, as they counterbalanced one another. When I was creatively stuck, I would swap to the hard factual nature of science and when I struggled to stay awake in biochemistry, I would shift to allowing my creative flow to travel through my hands into clay, plaster, or paint.
For me, creating has been a way to sink into my body, freeing myself from the analytical and logical mind, bringing me back to my roots.
Creating reminds me of my innate power.
Since schooling, I’ve been playing between the art and medicine worlds, as well as gaining a myriad of interests along the way. I continue to bloom into a greater understanding of my embodied self. I balance life as art, seeing every aspect of how I live as an opportunity to create and find counterbalance.
I work as a western Emergency Medicine doctor while also studying eastern Ayurveda medicine. I confide and connect with beloveds and strangers the same. I artfully dress, eat, create, relate, and decorate my home because,
I am the expert designer of my life.
I perceive every experience as an opportunity to integrate new information into my belief system as well as gain more depth of understanding who ‘I’ am. When I feel balance, my root system grows, strengthening me to be empowered, embodied, and resilient to forces outside myself. It is in this space of stability I am able to grow tall and wide, accessing my gifts and joys, discovering the bliss upon synchronizing myself with this earthly experience.
